Greenwood School Board Report
Friday, August 14th, 2020 -- 10:14 AM
The Greenwood School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Monday.Elementary Principal Joe Green provided a recap on the summer school program, shared that the Kids’ Club afterschool program will not operate during the 1st semester due to concerns presented by COVID-19, the district will not offer 4K on Fridays to start the year, 6th grade band is being postponed as they look for ways to offer it in the safest way possible and teachers continue to receive training in the ARC reading program.
District Administrator Todd Felhofer provided an update on state mask order. The order remains in effect. There was some speculation that this order would be challenged in the courts, but, as of yet, this has not happened. There is also discussion of a joint session of the state legislature where the mask order could be ended.
Action passed during a joint session of the legislature is not subject to gubernatorial veto. Also, the discussion regarding the use of Native American mascots continues in light of the Washington Football Team dropping its name.
Mr. Felhofer then provided the board with dates of future meetings including a Special Board Meeting on Monday, August 24th, the next regular Board Meeting on Monday, September 14th and the Annual Board Meeting on Monday, September 28th.
