Clark County Quarterly Workforce Meeting Looks at Impact of Coronavirus on County Employment

-The Clark County Quarterly Workforce Resource meeting was held on Monday.Those in attendance received a synopsis of the employment situation in Clark County since the coronavirus pandemic began. The Clark County Workforce Resource Center is still open, but they are seeing people only by appointment open. Unemployment for Clark County reflected the rest of the nation with a vast increase in April, but slowly declining in May and June. The group also discussed some issues that have really come to light during the coronavirus pandemic. The county has been working on increasing broadband connectivity for some time, but now, with more students and individuals needing better connection for school and work, the need has become even more important.
The group also heard from some of the changes Clark County companies have needed to make during the coronavirus pandemic including Cumming and Decorator Industries. They also discussed drive through job fairs, their Virtual Culinary Academy, welding pre-apprenticeships and the status of FSET and other programs and how they’re meeting the needs of customers.
