Local Farms Recognized With 2020 Century and Sesquicentennial Farm and Home Awards

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Over a hundred farm and home owners throughout Wisconsin are being recognized this year for having their estate in the same family for 100 or 150 years.Officials with Wisconsin State Fair Park announced the recipients of the 2020 Century and Sesquicentennial Farm and Home Awards. To qualify for the award, continuous family ownership of a property must be proven. Honorees receive a certificate and outdoor display sign. They are also normally honored during a ceremony at the Wisconsin State Fair, but those plans have been put on hold in 2020. The Century Farm and Home Program began in 1948 in conjunction with the state's centennial celebration. There are over 9,600 Century Farms and Homes nestled throughout the Badger State. The Sesquicentennial Program originated in 1998 as part of the Wisconsin's 150th year of statehood. Since that time, 919 families have been honored.
The following local recipients are being honored with Century Awards including Dawn & Gregory Thoma of Neillsville, Leslie Gunderson of Fairchild, Dorothy & Wallace Sprotte of Abbotsford, Barbara & Charles Wellner of Abbotsford. The following local recipients are being honored with Sesquicentennial Awards including Leslie Gunderson of Fairchild and Jessica & Kevin Berg of Osseo.
