NEILLSVILLE BUDGET FINALIZED
Thursday, October 13th, 2005 -- 12:10 PM
The City of Neillsville?s Finance Committee has wrapped up work on the proposed 2006 budget. Overall spending would decrease by 5-percent under the plan, but thanks to a big 11.8%-decrease in non-property tax revenue, the city will still have to nudge up the levy by 1.9%.City Clerk Rex Roehl says the city will get $57,000 less in state shared revenue next year.
While the overall budget will go down, Roehl says the city will have to absorb a $19,000 in insurance costs, a $14,500 increase in vehicle fuel and a $13,000 increase to utility costs. Those increase are offset by applying $243,993 from the general fund; an increase of $53,785, or 28% from last year.
Roehl says the city?s tax rate won?t be known until the state announces our updated property value.
