CLARK COUNTY ORDERS LESS FLU VACCINE
Monday, October 10th, 2005 -- 3:44 PM
Officials are not expecting the same flu shot shortages they experienced last year.Typically, The Clark County Health Department orders and administers around 800 doses of the vaccine, this year they only ordered 150 doses of the shot. A health department official says very few people decided to get the flu shot last year and they speculate the demand for the vaccine could be down this year.
Also, the Department is not planning flu shot clinics as they have in the past. Still, it?s recommended those at high risk, like the elderly and young children, get vaccinated. The health department will administer the shots for a fee at their usual clinics held every Monday from 2:30 ? 4 at the courthouse and first Thursday of the month from 5:30 ? 6:30 p.m. in Abbotsford.
You can call them at 743-5105 for more information. You may also call your local healthcare provider for vaccine information.
