Greenwood School Board Discusses Employment Matters

-The Greenwood School Board approved some employment matters at their meeting on Monday.The board approved the employment of Lisa Theisen as a middle school teacher and Andrew Giles as a 1st grade teacher. The board also approved a leave request for Kindergarten Teacher Lori Cooper. The board also approved a donated US Flag from Noah Elmer on behalf of his brother Fredrick Noah who passed away recently. The flag will be displayed in the West Gym. The board also heard the Committee Reports. Board member Mark Shain shared that the CESA Board is not meeting in July and CESA 10 is offering their services for purchasing PPEs, reopening planning, and maintenance issues. It was also stated theTechnology Committee is meeting weekly in preparation of rolling out the 1:1 Chromebook/laptop initiative.
Finally, they heard some concerns from residents during the public opinion portion of the meeting. One resident asked if the district was considering taking student temperatures each day. Another was concerned the district’s athletes did not have access to the facilities. Another voiced concern about athletes wanting to be able to work out and prepare for the upcoming seasons. Finally, another resident agreed with WIAA guidelines and is willing to follow them in order to get athletes back into workouts if possible.
