GROUND TO BE BROKEN FOR NEW LEGION HALL
Friday, September 30th, 2005 -- 9:30 AM
Ground will be broken for the new Neillsville American Legion facility on Saturday (October 1st). Dewey Seelow has been helping lead the fundraising efforts. The group hopes to raise about $1-million for the facility, which will sit on donated land near the Super 8 Motel."We're at about 55% (or our goal). We need more funds, but we'll be doing more fund drives. It will probably take 4 or 5 years before we have it all paid off," Seelow says.
Depending on the weather, Seelow believes the Legion could move out their current facility near O? Neil Creek and into the new facility sometime next Spring.
The current facility has served as the Legion?s meeting place since 1948 and it?s projected that the new building should meet Legion and community needs through 2060.
The groundbreaking will take place Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
