(Hub City Times) -The Marshfield community is showing their support in finding the individuals who defaced the World’s Largest Round Barn on the Marshfield Fairgrounds property in June.“Just to show you how great our community is and how much they respect our history, we have had numerous individuals step forward and offer reward money towards information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the recent graffiti at the Round Barn,” the Marshfield Police Department said in a release. The reward for information leading to an arrest is now at $700 ??" up from $150, due to community outpour. On June 12, the century-old structure, that the community has worked to preserve as a testament to the area’s history, was entered and vandalized. “They left the water running and littered the building. They did some spray-paint damage and they wrecked a picnic table that was inside,” Peggy Sue Meyer, who serves as board president for the Central Wisconsin State Fair, which is hosted on the grounds.
“It makes me sick. It makes me sad that someone would vandalize the round barn. It is something that people come to Marshfield to see. It is something that is rare, and it’s historic value cannot be accessed.” Those with information on the case, may contact the Marshfield Police Department or use the Crimestoppers P3 app. To assist the fairgrounds with any needs, call 715- 387-1261.
