-A Neillsville woman arrested for stabbing her ex-boyfriend appeared in Clark County Court on Tuesday.According to court records, at the end of October of last year, Shannon Liddell stabbed her ex-boyfriend, whom she called her husband, and a woman he was with after walking in on them engaging in sexual activity. Liddell said that she and the man don’t have a marriage license, but she believes he is her husband as they performed a pagan ritual called handfasting. Handfasting is where the partners hold hands while someone binds them together with ribbons. When she caught them, Liddell said she lost it and attacked them.
The ex-boyfriend was stabbed three times in the chest and the woman was stabbed once in the throat and in the arm. Liddell is facing two counts of first degree attempted homicide and two counts of first degree recklessly endangering safety. If found guilty and sentenced to the maximum amount, Liddell could face 140 years in prison. Liddell was scheduled for a plea hearing on Tuesday, but it was rescheduled for August 17th.
