AGING OFFICE BUSY THIS TIME OF YEAR
Monday, September 19th, 2005 -- 11:46 AM
Fall is a busy time of the year for the Clark County Office on Aging. On Thursday, Mary Sladich was our guest on Viewpoint. She says there are a number of events coming up. On Tuesday, the department will be holding a Community Respite Program open house. It will be held at the Neillsville Senior Center on Oak Street. Sladich explains the Respite Program is a relatively new program meant to give caregivers a break."We bring the folks with dementia to the center. It gives whoever is at home a chance to have time to themselves," Sladich. "Sometimes when you care for someone with Alzheimers', you're up day and night."
The open house will begin with 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20th at the Neillsville Senior Center.
Then on Thursday, they will hold their Senior Citizen?s Health Fair. It will be held at the United Church of Christ on West 2nd Street here in Neillsville. Sladich says there are many highlights.
"We work with Memorial Medical Center and many other medical providers and agencies to provide a screening for older folks. There's no charge," Sladich says.
