Employment Matters at Neillsville School Board Meeting

-The Neillsville School Board discussed employment matters at their meeting on Monday.The board approved the resignation of Hannah Engevold from her high school special education teaching position. They also approved the Memorandum of Understanding for Jennifer Lindner as presented, approved the hiring of Jason Kurth for an assistant football coaching position and approved Kathleen Watson to remain in her food service position through the end of the 2020-2021 school year. Finally, the board approved the support staff wages for the 2020-2021 school year as presented, approved Support Staff Handbook updates for the 2020-2021 school year as presented, approved Supervisory and Confidential Staff Handbook updates for the 2020-2021 school year as presented and approved Certified Staff Handbook updates for the 2020-2021 school year as presented.
The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. District Administrator John Gaier reported on 2020-2021 student insurance credit, July and August meals, an article regarding teachers adjusting to COVID-19, CARES Act funding, an AASA resolution for reopening schools, an article on protests in Minnesota and a deadline for submitting board payment requests. He also reported on a lawsuit related to Title IX regulations, The Wheeler Report on the impact of COVID-19 on public education, an outline of the ECASD plan for the fall semester, two Education Week articles on strategies for reopening schools, various options for reopening district facilities for student activities and the fall semester and a Neillsville Rec Department participation waiver.
