-The Neillsville City Council discussed the Neillsville Mobile Home Court at their meeting on Tuesday. The Director of Public Works stated that the mobile home court at 210 E. Division Street has a number of non-compliance issues and discussion with the owners and local management has not been showing progress. A trailer was removed leaving a hole and open sewage pipe, vacant lots have not been mowed, furniture and large items have not been disposed of, accumulation of trash, an abandoned truck and boat, and residents feeding feral cats. One council member stated that before the city renews their license, they should get a letter telling them what needs to be done. The City Attorney stated the city could cite them, which can be done on a regular basis, until compliance is achieved. Once you hit their pocketbook compliance usually follows. Another council member questioned how not issuing the license renewal would affect those residents who take care of their property. Where are they going to go?
The City Attorney stated that if the license is not renewed and the trailer park is forced to close the trailers would have to be moved, however most owners come into compliance without displacing their residents. The Director of Public Works stated the residents need to talk to the park owners and the City Clerkâs office has five mobile home parking fees which have not been paid. Finally, the council approved that the Director of Public Works provide the City Attorney with the non-compliance information and the City Attorney be directed to write a letter to the Neillsville mobile home court owners.
