Clark County?s Clerk of Court wants people to know their annual trip to Mexico or Canada is going to become more complicated. Currently, U.S. citizens only need a certified birth certificate to travel to Canada or Mexico. But Clerk of Court Gail Walker says that will be changing over the next couple years."As of December 31st, 2006, if you're traveling by air or sea to Canada or Mexico, you'll need a passport," Walker says.
"As of December 31st, 2007, if you're traveling by air, sea or land, you'll need a passport."
The price of passport recently jumped from $85 to $97.
The changes are part of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act. So again, after December 31st of next year, you?ll need a passport to fly to Mexico or Canada and the following year, you?ll need a passport just to drive to Canada or Mexico.
