GOVERNOR SEEKS FEDERAL DISASTER DECLARATION
Friday, August 26th, 2005 -- 11:42 AM
Governor Doyle has asked the federal government to declare Dane, Richland and Vernon counties federal disaster areas because of last week's storms. The designation would make them eligible for help in covering the estimated 47 (M) million dollars in damages caused by last week's tornadoes. State officials estimate more than 400 homes were impacted by the storms, including 67 that were destroyed. In all, 28 tornadoes touched down in Wisconsin a week ago, setting a one-day record.Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
