CLARK COUNTY HAS A LOT OF COWS

Clark County continues to have the most dairy herds in the state. Wisconsin lost only 14 dairy herds during the past month. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture announced this week 15,043 herds milking during the month of July. Compared to last year at this time, about 421 herds either sold out or merged with other operations. Clark County continues to hold the highest number of herds in the state with 1,015. According to the DATCP, Wisconsin's milk cow inventory, at 1.24 million head, declined 10,000 head from January 1, 2004.
