Coronavirus Case Numbers, Peak Time for Wisconsin, Social Distancing Grade for State and Clark County

-Taking a look at the updated state numbers of coronavirus cases from yesterday afternoon, the state has 59,235 negative tests, 5,911 positive cases and 272 deaths.Of the positive cases, 1,397, or 24%, have been hospitalized. Clark County has 19 positive and 194 negative. For our neighboring counties, Chippewa has 20 positive and 909 negative, Eau Claire has 25 positive and 1,739 negative, Jackson has 12 positive and 254 negative, Wood has 2 positive and 389 negative, Marathon has 17 positive and 602 negative and Taylor still has no positive cases and 91 negative. In case you missed it yesterday, Clark County did report another death due to the coronavirus, bringing the county total to 2. Marathon and Jackson Counties have had one person die due to the coronavirus as well. Wisconsin’s Peak Time for the virus, according to the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation, has now passed. It went on to say that After May 18th, relaxing social distancing may be possible with containment strategies that include testing, contact tracing, isolation, and limiting gathering size. The website Unacast, as a part of a COVID-19 took kit, has released grades for each state and every county in the state regarding how well they’re following social distancing procedures using cell phone data. The state of Wisconsin has fallen slightly. A week ago, the state had received a grade of C.
Now, the state has received a grade of C-. Clark County has risen slightly from a C last week to a B- this week. For our neighboring counties, Chippewa has a grade of D+, Eau Claire has a grade of C-, Jackson has a grade of D+, Wood has a grade of D, Marathon has a grade of C- and Taylor has a grade of C. Wisconsin is under a Safer at Home order, which askses all residents to avoid unnecessary travel. You can still go to the grocery store or pharmacy, get gas, get dinner from a local business, work in the yard, walk the dog, ride a bike, etc.; just practice social distancing when you do so. The state saw widespread protest over the Safer at Home order this past weekend.
