The Neillsville City Council heard the Officer’s Report at their meeting on Tuesday. For the month of March, the department had 42 incidents, 76 service calls/self initiated, 10 traffic citations, 30 traffic warnings, 1 crash,4 ordinance citations, 5 adult arrests, 1 case referred to the district attorney’s office, 5 juvenile matters and 728 business checks. The council also heard the Public Works Report. The usual amount of work was done in the city including cemetery and parks maintenance, equipment maintenance, plowing, sanding and salting, snow and ice removal, pruning trees, raking road shoulders, picking up branches, maintaining street lighting, filling potholes, hauling brush and compost, curbside branch pickup, open storm drains, street sweeping and more.
They also closed the playground equipment at the park and they want to remind residents that they don’t pick up leaves in the spring. Also, they asked residents not to rake leaves and sticks into the gutter unless they plan on picking them up. Spring cleaning is the last week in April and lawn waste must be bagged. They also read metters, continued to add radio readouts and do meter change outs. Finally, the sewer plant had some issues with the bar screen due to people flushing wipes. They remind residents that just because they say they’re flushable, doesn’t mean they are.
