Survey Begins to Show Impact of COVID-19 on Marshfield Businesses

(Hub City Times) -Business impact survey results released by several Marshfield organizations is shedding some light on COVID-19’s impact in the community.Nearly 150 area businesses participated in the survey, which allowed the organizations to provide needed resources. Of the businesses responding, 72 percent had been in business for over 10 years and 78 percent are locally owned. Sixty-eight percent of the businesses suspended storefront operations during the COVID outbreak and 49 percent have seen revenue decreases of over 50 percent; 60 percent are at risk of losing employees and 40 percent are at risk of closing within five months without assistance or intervention.
Just 25 percent of those businesses have an online sales component. The survey also saw requests for social media support as well as training in succession planning.
