FIRE BANS EASED
Thursday, July 28th, 2005 -- 9:22 AM
Fire restrictions in our area are being eased thanks to the recent rainfall. Precipitation over the Central Forest in Wisconsin has been adequate to temporarily ease fire danger and Department of Natural Resources burning permits can once more be issued. The permits are issued for a three-day period but only allow burning after 6 p.m. In Wisconsin fire danger is less after 6 p.m. than during mid-day or early afternoon hours.
The Department of Natural Resources permits can be obtained in parts or all of Eau Claire, Chippewa, Clark, Jackson counties. In areas outside the Department of Natural Resources fire control areas local fire departments and town officials issue permits.
