4H MEMBERS VISIT CLARK COUNTY
Friday, July 22nd, 2005 -- 8:42 AM
Twenty-one 4H members from Washington D.C. and Florida are spending a week in Clark County. Joanne Bucholtz, the leader of the Christie Mounders 4H club, says the group has been touring Wisconsin."We've spent two days just touring things in the county itself," Bucholtz says. The group has toured The Highground Veterans' Memorial Park, the Amish community and a local dairy.
Bucholtz says the 4H Exchange program is a great learning experience for the kids that get to travel, as well as those who host exchange students.
"It's a wonderful learning experience. They get to stay with other families, see what their culture is like," Bucholtz says. "Most of these kids don't know anything about the Amish community or dairying. Most of them come from the big cities."
Clark County 4H members actually traveled to Florida last year as part of the 4H exchange program.
