Clark County in Critical Need of Poll Workers
Thursday, April 2nd, 2020 -- 10:56 AM
-Even with the coronavirus outbreak, the April 7th Elections are still scheduled, but many Wisconsin municipalities are in desperate need of poll workers.According to the Wisconsin Elections Commission, the state has 108 municipalities out of 850 that have critical shortages. Those numbers are always changing too. Even when new workers volunteer, others drop out leaving municipalities in a constant state of flux. There are four categories when it comes to shortages and they are critical, concerning, serious and stable. Clark County currently has 12 municipalities that fall into the critical category.
Clerks have been asked to reach out to high school students, college students, family members, teachers and many others. If you’re interested in becoming a poll worker, please contact your local clerk. If these municipalities do not receive enough workers, they may need to condense the number of polling locations.
