PITTSVILLE SOLDIER INJURED IN IRAQ

A Pittsville soldier received shrapnel injuries during the improvised explosive explosion that killed 20-year-old Charles Kaufman of Fairchild this week. 23-year-old Brandan Macha received shrapnel wounds to his arm and leg and was treated at a hospital in Baghdad. He returned to his unit on Thursday. Another central Wisconsin soldier was injured in the attack, but his name has not been confirmed. The soldiers were assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, Company C, 128th Infantry in Eau Claire. A memorial service for Kaufman is scheduled Saturday in Iraq.
