-The Neillsville School Board heard a presentation on American Time’s Ever Alert Communication System. This system is a cloud based, synchronized clock system that also acts as a messaging and alert system. The company is based out of Minnesota, but they’ve done work at district all over the country. This system can be hardwired or connected to Wifi and takes up very little bandwidth. Besides providing various displays of time, like an analog clock or digital numbers, it also can provides messages to the district or individual classrooms. It can include notices, schedules, weather, lunch menus, countdowns for tests and even alerts. A teacher can be paged in their classroom using an alert and then a message is displayed for that teacher/classroom. The system can tie into Neillsville current fire system and safety system and provide alerts in case of emergency. It can provide fire alarms, lock down messages, severe weather alerts and more.
The district could already use the display screens they have in the hall for the system, but they would need to purchase screens to replace the clocks in the various classrooms. Each display and a subscription would equal out to around $20 per display, per year, but they yearly price wouldn’t begin until after 4 years. The total cost of the purchase would cost $59,763 and equal out to around $1,600 per year. The screens have a year long warranty and are rated to last around 8 years. The district’s current clock system is around 30 years old. No action was taken on the item.
