Merrillan Woman Found Not Guilty of Homicide by Negligent Operation of a Vehicle

-A Merrillan woman was found not guilty of a texting while driving accident that resulted in the death of an Augusta man.Back in 2017, a crash occurred on Highway 12/27 near Black River Falls. Authorities alleged that 39-year-old Leanna Cernohous was texting when her vehicle crossed the center line and hit another vehicle being driven by 80-year-old Norman Tischner. Tischner died in the crash.
Cernohous was charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. A jury found her not guilty of the crash on Thursday.
