MAKE-A-WISH CONVOY READY TO ROLL
Friday, June 10th, 2005 -- 2:27 PM
No one knows exactly how much money the ?Make a Wish Truck Convoy? has raised for the foundation that grants wishes to ill kids, but it?s safe to say tens-of-thousands of dollars has been raised. The 8th annual truck convoy will be held again this Saturday. Organizer Punk Montgomery says $11,000 was raised last year alone. More than 50 semis are expected to take part in the convoy that will travel from Neillsville to Marshfield and back at noon on Saturday.
Some of the ?Make a Wish? kids have stopped by to help.
"They just mingle with the people - they don't want a lot of publicity," Montgomery says. "I think it's great when they come down and you see how good they are doing and they talk about their wish. It's really cool."
Montgomery says area businesses have been very helpful donating items for the silent auction. Non-truck drivers are welcome to take part in the convoy for a $10 pledge. If you?d like more information, you can call Punk Montgomery at 238-7797.
