Two Marshfield Teens Charged with Making a Bomb Threat Appear in Wood County Court

Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 -- 10:10 AM

-Two Marshfield teens facing charges for bomb threats made at the Marshfield High School appeared in Wood County Court on Tuesday.

Back on December 9th, administration at the Marshfield High School was told about a bomb threat on a bathroom stall by Alyssa Portz. Similar threats were written in bathrooms throughout the high school. After questioning, Portz admitted to authorities that she and Simone Rootellis wrote the threats to get out of class. The two girls are facing charges of making terrorist threats. During their preliminary hearings on Tuesday, probable cause was found, so their court proceedings will continue. They entered a not guilty plea to the charges against them. Both girls are free on a $5,000 signature bond and they’re scheduled to be back in court on June 19th. If convicted, and sentenced to the maximum amount, they could face 3.5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Within that same time period, Marshfield had multiple threats by students and three other teens were arrested after they reported a bomb threat the following week at the Marshfield High School. Jared Roggenbauer stated he found a threat on a bathroom stall on December 17th and the district did evacuate the high school that afternoon. After questioning, Roggenbauer later admitted to writing the threat. He also stated that Gage Plechaty and Bradley Hendrickson had suggested the idea and checked the bathroom to make sure it was clear. They’re all being charged with making terrorist threats. They’re scheduled to be back in court on May 1st.
