Wisconsin Crop Production Totals

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -New figures from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture show that 63,500 total acres of snap beans were picked in the Badger State in 2019, with a total production of 6.2 million per hundredweight.The agency says production of snap beans for processing was 294,037 tons and was valued at $29.1 million. That's compared to $32.5 million a year earlier. Wisconsin maintained its number one ranking in production of processing snap beans, though production and value were lower than 2018's growing season. Sweet corn growers harvested 8.65 million cwt. from 49,400 acres last year. Fresh market production totaled 354,400 cwt. and was valued at $7.66 million. Processing production accounted for 411,070 tons and had a value of $25.8 million. The state remained in third place nationally for processed sweet corn production.
Wisconsin farmers produced 1.09 million cwt of green peas. There were 26,500 acres harvested. The 54,271 tons of processing green pea production had a value of $11 million. Producers grew 1.6 million cwt of carrots in 2019 from 3,300 harvest acres worth $6.98 million. And there were 5,000 acres of cucumbers harvested for a total production value of $15.6 million.
