Legislation Ending So-Called "Telephone Tax" Clears State Assembly

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Legislation that creates parity for Internet providers by ending the so-called telephone tax has cleared the state Assembly.Authored by Romaine Quinn of Barron, the measure reduces the cost of putting broadband fiber in the ground, making the expansion of such projects more cost-effective for small providers.
In order to qualify for the exemption, a provider must serve a rural or under served area and provide speeds of at least 25 megabits per second download and 3mbps upload.
