Monday, February 10th, 2020 -- 12:29 PM
(WRN) -Struggling Wisconsin farmers received millions in federal farm aid last year. The Wisconsin State Journal reports applicants to the Market Facilitation Program through Wisconsin Farm Service Agency offices received more than 432 million dollars between September 2018 and November 2019. That's according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
More than 2,600 Wisconsin payment recipients received less than $1,000. Wisconsin Farmers Union President Darin Von Ruden said in many cases the MFP payments weren’t enough to keep struggling farms afloat.
