(WRN) -Wisconsin health officials are closely monitoring the state's first confirmed case of coronavirus.State health officials say a Wisconsin resident with a confirmed case of the coronavirus is recovering. DHS Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ryan Westergaard says the confirmation was made on Wednesday.
"This patient came into contact with a confirmed case while travelling to China. At this time the patient is doing well. To protect the privacy of this individual, we are not releasing additional details that would identify them."
Dr. Westergaard says coronavirus can present itself like a usual winter illness.
"Symptoms can appear anywhere between 2 and 14 days after someone is exposed to the virus, and can be mild like the common cold or severe like pneumonia."
Dr. Westergaard says the patient has been isolated at home, and is doing well.
"All precautionary measures are being taken to protect the public, and individuals are being contacted directly about potential exposures. Again, the risk to Wisconsin residents in general is extremely low."
The patient has been isolated at home and is receiving care there. Officials say there is little danger to the public at this time.
