(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Four Wisconsin farm groups are submitting comments to the USDA on changes they would like to see with the U.S. Domestic Hemp Production Program. The Wisconsin Farm Bureau, Wisconsin Hemp Alliance, Wisconsin Hemp Farmers and Manufacturers Association and Wisconsin Farmers Union want updates made to the program that would make it workable and practical for Wisconsin growers. In particular, the organizations support more testing facilities, a wider time window for compliance monitoring, and a better solution for what to do with the crop if it exceeds legal THC levels.
"If the rule was enacted as currently written, there would be little incentive for individual states to implement an industrial hemp program," the groups said in a letter to the federal agency. The federal hemp program was a provision written into the 2018 Farm Bill.
