FFA Chapters Can Apply For Grant Money

Sunday, February 2nd, 2020 -- 8:15 AM

FFA chapters in Wisconsin have the opportunity to apply for grant money to help with individual and cooperative activities, such as community service projects or Food for America programming.

Wisconsin Ag Connection reports that the funding is being made available through the Wisconsin FFA Foundation, which is encouraging local clubs to develop individual and cooperative activities to enhance their communities. Community Service grants are being funded through the Bethany L. Rieth Memorial Fund, which was established after Rieth, a former state FFA officer, passed away in a skiing accident in 2016. These annual grants given in Bethany's name will be awarded to chapters that want to complete meaningful service projects that make a difference in their communities. The Food for America Grant is funded by Organic Valley/CROPP Cooperative, Inc. Examples of such projects could include hosting events done in cooperation with another organization to promote healthy foods or eating, or establishing a community garden. The Burton H. Morris Chapter Grant is available to FFA programs with a land base in Adams County.

The Convention Grant is made possible by the WAXX/Wisconsin Farm Report Network with Pam Jahnke. It is open to FFA chapters across Wisconsin whose members have financial restraints which prevent them from attending the Wisconsin FFA Convention held each June in Madison. And in its second year, the AgCountry Chapter Grant is available to FFA chapters in the AgCountry Farm Credit Services' customer area in north central Wisconsin. The grant can be applied for any area of need or project a chapter may have up to $500. To be eligible for a grant, FFA chapters must be in good standing with the Wisconsin FFA and submit a completed application. Applications are due March 22.
