Friday, January 31st, 2020 -- 10:43 AM
-The Colby Cheese Bill, which would make Colby Cheese the official state cheese, had a public hearing in the Senate on January 29th in the State Capitol.Several people and groups from the Colby area testified before the committee in favor of the bill. Matt Oemichen, from Colby who’s been spearheading this effort, said residents need to email their state officials now through February 5th to show their support for the bill. Both committees are going to come back around on the bills to vote onto executive order next week. If they don ‘t get on the docket, then the chances of it getting a congressional vote become slim to none.
If the reps and senators not on the committee get emails on this, they will pass it on to the committees and show that others besides Colby want this to go through. So please contact your representative and senator and the committee chair to let them know you support Senate Bill 519. Senate Committee chair is: [email protected].
