(WRN) -A bipartisan proposal on dangerous PFAS chemicals includes a provision to give the DNR up to three years to put emergency rules place.WisPolitics reports that the DNR typically implements emergency rules for 150 days with a maximum of two renewals of 60 days each. The proposal from Representative John Nygren and Senator Dave Hansen would allow the emergency rules for groundwater to remain in effect up to three years or until a permanent rule is in place, whichever is sooner.
Nygren said that would give his constituents peace of mind. Governor Tony Evers said he'd sign the bill if it reached his desk.
