Black River Falls Rotary Club's January Youth Rotars

-Isabella Cowles and Caleb Laufenberg were the January Youth Rotars for the Rotary Club of Black River Falls.Both are seniors at the Black River Falls High School. Youth Rotars are selected by their school and Rotary as representatives of “good citizens” in both their school and their community. Youth Rotars spend one month attending the Rotary Club’s meetings and give reports on school events. At their last meeting, they are presented with the Rotary Club of Black River Falls flag. The Youth Rotar Program runs from September through May with two representatives each month, except the month of December.
Isabella is the daughter of John and Stephanie Cowles. She has two brothers. In school, Isabella is involved in cheerleading, band, choir, dance team, school musicals, Tiger Investment Club and GM97. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and a Jackson Electric Youth Ambassador. She was Miss Black River Falls 2017-2018. She currently works at the Lunda Community Center as a Lifeguard and she is the School District’s Social Media Intern which has taught her to be diligent in her work and pay attention to detail. Outside of school and work she enjoys reading, working out, dancing, singing, skiing and spending time with family and friends. Isabella plans on attending North Central University in Minneapolis to major in Education. When asked about her time as a Youth Rotar, Isabella said, “I learned that there are many parts to a community that make it able to succeed. I am very fortunate to live in a small town where there are so many opportunities and activities for everyone who lives here.”
Caleb is the son of Tia and George Laufenberg. He has one brother and one sister. In school, Caleb is involved in National Honor Society and FFA. He currently works at Papa Murphy’s which has taught him the value of hard work and not giving up. In his free time he enjoys playing video games, spending time with friends and family and playing with his dog, Sadie and cat, Lucas. After graduation, Caleb plans on attending UW Eau Claire to study Biology. When asked about his time as a Youth Rotar, Caleb said, “I learned that this organization really does a lot of good for the community.”
The Rotary Club of Black River Falls is part of an organization dedicated to improving the lives of people all over the world. Its purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards and to advance goodwill and peace throughout the world.
