LOYAL AGREES TO CONSOLIDATION FEASIBILITY STUDY WITH GREENWOOD, INVITES GRANTON
Thursday, May 19th, 2005 -- 10:21 AM
It appears a Greenwood-Loyal school consolidation study will take place, and an effort to detach the Town of Hendren from the Greenwood School District will be put on hold ? for now.The Loyal school board met last night and agreed to join Greenwood in a consolidation feasibility study. While specifics have to be hammered out, Loyal Superintendent Graeme Williams said the districts will likely find 5 people from each district to serve on a committee exploring all facets of consolidation.
The Greenwood school board has already approved the study, but they recommended finding a third-party moderator to run the committee?s meetings ? Williams said he?s not sure if Loyal would want a moderator.
Different from Greenwood?s action, Loyal also agreed to ask Granton to join the study.
Meanwhile, the TRG is reporting this week leaders of a push to detach the Town of Hendren from the Greenwood school district have agreed to put that effort on hold, as long as the Greenwood board continues to move forward with this study.
