Governor Evers Talks Special Session and More
Tuesday, January 28th, 2020 -- 10:23 AM
(WRN) -While in a stop in Wausau to talk about his new redistricting commission, Governor Tony Evers said he's not concerned that legislative Republicans won't actually hold a special session on ag-related bills like he asked them to."At the minimum, from what I heard, is that they're going to be on the Assembly side passing it off to the Agriculture Committee, which would have to happen anyways. So, they will get to the point we want them to one way or another."
He was also asked if the state would help out with tracking down abusive Catholic priests. Evers says that's not something the state is currently involved in, but he's willing to listen to plans.
"If there's a way the state can be helpful, and making sure that doesn't happen in the future, I'd be more than glad to look at something."
The state legislature is gaveling in for special session today regarding the investment in rural ag initiative the governor unveiled in his State of the State Speech last week.
