Owen City Council Hears CDC's Report

-The Owen City Council heard the CDC’s Report at their meeting last week.

Tim Swiggum reported that the DRC had FEMA representatives on site for a meeting to review the funding for the storm damages occurred in July and state loan payments were made. Also, the DNR would like to present the Urban Forestry Grant to the City Council on February 11th with additional student representatives to view the process. He also stated the Zoning map needs to be reviewed and approved in February. He updated the council on the Duplex for Carsons Corners and he stated the River County Co-Op site will need drums removed and taken to the Hazardous Waste facility. Also, the Trackless Train was delivered and is in storage at the Old Depot and the DRC is working on an agreement to be drawn up for rentals. He also stated that Owen was not selected this year for the American Bloom Grant but intends to reapply next year.

Tim continued stating the Tree City paperwork has been completed, a Quiet Zone meeting with the County Highway Commissioner has been set for Jan 24th and there are some Raze orders to be approved at a future meeting. Finally, he stated the OWACC Annual Business Meeting is Feb. 3rd at the Meadowview and the Annual Business Expo will be April 4th. During the public comments portion of the meeting, a resident provided a new survey map for 4th & 5th street. He also attended the Municipal Building Committee meeting at the We Energies building and said he supports the purchase. He also said he does not support the FEMA emergency shelter building at the school.
