Owen-Withee School Board Hears Administrators' Reports

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting last week.Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on the Angel Tree project that provided Christmas presents to more than 70 Owen-Withee students this Christmas. He offered his kudos to Mrs. Korn for spearheading this project again this year. January 15th and 16th were set aside for Elementary students to attend a movie at the Stanley theater as a reward for meeting the goal set for the food drive held before Thanksgiving. Forty-Six student/athletes from UW-Green Bay will be at the district on January 20th to visit classrooms, work with kids, have lunch and do a little recess time with the elementary students. Finally, he stated Star Lab will be at the district from January 21st-24th. He thanked Ms. Rahn for taking this project on. Middle/High School Dean of Students Julie Van Ark reported that last week was finals week and that the All-Conference Music festival took place Saturday, January 18th at Fall Creek. Owen-Withee had 11 band members and 6 choir members participating.
Also, Mrs. Barth and four choir members are in Decorah, IA for the Dorian Festival. They will return on Tuesday. Last Friday the MS Lock-In was held and Friday, January 24th the High School Lock-In will take place. She thanked all adults who chaperoned these events. District Administrator Bob Houts reported that we are working on a private/public partnership for the FEMA grant. This type of partnership greatly enhances the chances of the project being funded. Finally, the board unanimously approved the retirement of Lance Batchelor as Elementary School Principal effective at the end of his current contract, June 30th. The board congratulated Mr. B on his retirement and thanked him for his 31 years of service to the district as a teacher and principal.
