Updates From The Loyal School Board

The Loyal School Board discussed open enrollment special needs applicants at their meeting on Tuesday.Annually the board must specify available spots for possible open enrollment special needs applicants. Speech &Language are the tightest areas for the district. The board also approved sharing staff with Granton similar to the current practice and they are looking to hire a seasonal employee to do lawn care. If a dependable person cannot be found, they may go with an outside vendor. Administration also offered a big thanks to Scott Schiller for the software professional development session that he put on. Finally, they heard some items from the administration. For the elementary, the board heard details about the Christmas activity days which involved bowling, roller skating and Bruce Mound sledding.
Also, some assemblies were held and the Seal-A-Smile program was at the elementary. For the Jr/Sr high, the board heard about the Dorian Festival, Draper Hill Foundation work, semester exams, all-conference music, Monday is records day, the winter staff party, the spelling bee, an FFA livestock workshop, and the upcoming Tasha Schuh and Nathan Harmon assemblies.
