Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Bolstering Recognition for Businesses that Hire Vets

Tuesday, January 7th, 2020 -- 11:57 AM

(WRN) -The Department of Workforce Development is working to bolster recognition for businesses that help hire vets.

State workforce officials are working to get businesses that hire and retain veterans some special recognition. State veterans employment director Gary Meyer says the Vets Ready Employer Initiative helps showcase workplaces that offer top of the line support for returning vets.

"Job seekers that are veterans will be able to see this on the Job Center of Wisconsin site and be able to take a closer look at those job openings."

Meyer says the Vets Ready Employer Initiative will help veterans looking for a job on the state's job board find a good fit for them.

"They've sacrificed their time and it affects them and their families and they're doing this in support of our country."

Meyer says those businesses will get featured on the state's job board, which will make it easier for veterans to find them.

"We'd like them to step into a good civilian career where they can have a sustainable wage that will help them grow."
