28 Tornadoes Hit Wisconsin in 2019, 3 in Clark County

-According to the National Weather Service, 28 tornadoes touched down across Wisconsin in 2019.This is five above Wisconsin's average number of 23 tornadoes per year. More than half of the year total came in just a two day stretch on July 19-20 when 15 tornadoes touched down. The remaining tornadoes touched down within 10 more days total. Clark County saw three of the 28 tornadoes. Two of the three touched down on July 19th. AN EF0 hit near Thorp and an EF1 hit near Owen. The final tornado came on September 24th, an EF1 that hit near Greenwood. Many other areas of the state may not have seen tornadoes, but they did see strong thunderstorms that produced straight line wind gusts.
The strongest tornado in the state was the EF-3 that formed near Elk Mound and passed through Wheaton on September 24. The National Weather Service in Sullivan serving southeastern Wisconsin and is the lead office in the state of Wisconsin, meaning they handle the compilation climate data for the entire state of Wisconsin, such as statewide tornado statistics.
