Marshfield Man Arrested for Throwing Homemade Explosive Device at Girlfriend's Home Appears in Court

-A Marshfield man arrested after throwing a homemade explosive device at his girlfriend’s home appeared in Marathon County Court on Friday.Earlier this year, Corey Machtan was arrested after throwing a homemade bomb at his ex-girlfriend’s home, firing a gun into the air at the end of her driveway, sending threatening texts and entering her home, pushing her to the ground and punching her. Machtan is facing 13 charges including possessing explosives for unlawful purposes, vehicle operator fleeing/eluding an officer, strangulation and suffocation, making terroristic threats, possession of methamphetamine, possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia, battery, two counts of computer message threatening injury or harm, two counts of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass to a dwelling.
During his hearing on Friday, Machtan pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. He’s scheduled to be back in court on February 4th. If convicted and sentenced to the maximum amount for all charges, he could spend 34 years in prison.
