Friday, May 6th, 2005 -- 10:19 AM
As of Friday morning, firefighters from at least 20 agencies remained on the scene of the largest wildfire in the state in almost 25 years.State Forest Protection Director Trenton Marty says crews battled the blaze through most of the night, as the fire made its way across a mile-wide stretch. Marty says the extent of the damage still isn't clear at this point, but homes have been lost and 4,000 acres burned.
Nearly 100 people were forced out of their homes when the fire started Thursday afternoon. No injuries have been reported at this time. Once the fire is completely out, firefighters will start tracking down its cause.
