SUDER WANTS DNR AUDIT

An area legislator is upset with members of his own party for placing hunting and fishing license fee increases into the budget - and he plans to do something about it.The republican controlled Joint Finance Committee recently approved many of the fee increases proposed by Governor Jim Doyle. They scaled back some - most notably the resident deer hunting license.
Representative Scott Suder of Abbotsford said he?s opposed to any fee increases.
"I don't think the DNR needs anymore money at all," Suder says. "I'm going to try to get those fees knocked out - I don't know if I'll be successful."
While many outdoors groups have shown strong support for the increases, Suder says he'll call for an audit of the DNR this week.
"100% of those monies that sportsmen send to the DNR should go 100% to sportsmen programs. I don't believe they are," Suder says.
