Clark County's New District Attorney Sworn in on Friday

-A swearing-in ceremony was held for Clark County’s new District Attorney on Friday.At the beginning of December, Governor Tony Evers announced his appointment of Melissa Inlow to serve as Clark County District Attorney. Melissa stated, “I have a little over 10 years as an assistant district attorney. I have 8.5 years at the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office and then almost 2 years at the La Crosse County District Attorney’s Office. Before that, I was in private practice, doing everything from family law to estate planning and some criminal defense. I’ve also been a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard for 23 years. Approximately, 15 of that is as a JAG Officer where I do administrative law, some criminal law, estate planning and helping soldiers with legal issues.”
Melissa stated that after she completes the term of former DA Kerra Stumbris, she plans to run and continue on as Clark County’s DA. “My plan is to run in the 2020 election. Right now I am renting a property, but once I get my house fixed up and put on the market, then I’ll be looking to buy property and move into the community. Obviously you have to live in the community to be the district attorney, but I feel like Clark County can be my new home. I like the rural community. I like the close-nitness of it. I’m a little bit familiar with it from my work in Jackson County. I grew up in a small town, so this just feels like a good fit for me.”
Melissa would like the residents of Clark County to know that, “I hope to continue that legacy that DA Stumbris and now judge Lyndsey Boon-Brunette started, working for the community to keep them safe and hopefully work with law enforcement and the community to prevent re-offenses and keep the county safe."
Melissa was sworn in by Judge Boon-Brunette in a ceremony held at 3pm this past Friday afternoon and will now finish former DA Kerra Stumbris term. Stumbris resigned at the end of October.
