Monday, December 30th, 2019 -- 8:42 AM
(WRN) -Governor Tony Evers first veto this year was of a Republican tax cut.As expected, the Democratic governor in February vetoed a Republican bill which would have cut income taxes for middle class families. Evers said Republicans failed to provide long term funding for that tax cut.
The state budget Evers eventually signed included a middle class tax cut, although the governor also used his line-item veto authority 78 times. Some of those vetos were later the subject of legal challenges.
