Colby High School Secretary Charged for Stealing from School Accounts and Changing Grades

Friday, December 27th, 2019 -- 6:49 PM

(WDLB) -A former Colby High School secretary is facing criminal charges for allegedly hacking into school accounts to steal and pay back money and change letter grades for a student.

Prosecutors say 44-year-old Lisa Steen used a school credit card to pay her phone, cable and electric bills, then made deposits into the school’s accounts to pay some of the money back. The thefts are said to have occurred during a one-year period between February of 2018 and January of 2019, and totaled more than seven-thousand dollars.

Steen is also accused of using another employee’s login to change a student’s grades??"thus changing their class rank and making them eligible for scholarship money.

She is facing charges of identity theft, computer-related crimes, theft in a business setting, and misconduct in a public office.
