Around 250-thousand voters failed to respond to a mailer asking them to update their address, but D P W Chairman Ben Wikler says that's hardly a scientific method to check on people.
"Folks are sitting at homes they've lived in for decades, and suddenly find out they've been targeted to have their voter registration revoked."
Wikler says basing a voter purge on a single postcard mailer is problematic.
"The Elections Commission actually saw this problem, and decided to individually confirm that people had moved before removing them from the voter rolls. That was the right thing to do, and WILL is trying to force their hand."
Wikler says the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty is pushing this case on behalf of Republicans.
"It has nothing to do with the integrity of the voter rolls, and everything to do with trying to stop Democrats from doing what they did in 2018, which is winning an election based on popular ideas against a Republican record of failure."
The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty is pushing to have the case brought directly to the State Supreme Court and skip an appellate ruling.
