MAN DIES IN JACKSON CO CRASH

The Jackson County Sheriff?s Department is investigating a fatal accident that took the life of a Merrillan man Saturday. According to a press release, a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Charles Gumness Sr. failed to negotiate a turn while traveling on Hwy 95 in the Town of Hixton. The pick-up truck was found on its top in the yard of a private residence adjacent to the intersection S. Pole Grove Rd and Hwy 95. Gumness, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered extensive trauma.
